My private mediation journal that you are not supposed to read
I started meditating on and off using an app called HeadSpace about 2 years ago. During the first few months of using the app I immediately felt the benefits that mindfulness. But it wasn't until recently that I took an 8 week course with an instructor that I actually felt the difference. I wrote this article in order to record the journey I went through the past few months as I started meditating.
The first week we started learning the basics of mediation, we learned how to control your mind. Using Present Moments Awareness (PMS) we learned “to return”. Have you ever had a moment when you are thinking about something and your mind starts to wonder on something else. PMS taught me to return to what I was thinking before I felt off thought. Furthermore I was able to learn to stay in the moment, be present, enjoy what I have right now and not what could have been, what it will be, or what it was.
The second lesson during my class was Intention Meditation (IM). During IM I learn to love myself, love my body, and my mind. And most important I learned to take care off myself. I think that this type of meditation is an important step towards integrating mediation in your daily life. Intention meditation teaches you to be kind to yourself, to love yourself not matter what.
