The reason I am writing this article is because I think that although both Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are right. They both fail to give the entire picture. They are scaring people that are not familiar with the concept of Artificial Intelligence, or Machine Learning. The purpose of this article is to further explain what is going through both of this entrepreneurs brains.

To start there is something you should know. Both Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg are right, the truth is that both events are probably plausible. But the key takeaway is that both of them are talking about immensely different technologies. The truth is that actual experts in Artificial intelligence failed to convey what AI actually is. The question they fail to ask themselves is, when you are talking about AI are saying “A computer that is self aware” or you talking about pure machine learning algorithms that learn from data.

You can see from both entrepreneurs that their conclusion on AI is also the same way they act as leaders. Elon Musk is more obsessed with building the future while Mark Zuckerberg is working in real world problems that we have right now. Mark Zuckerberg views on AI are true, AI is going to help a lot of lives by taking unprocessed data giving insights to all kinds of fields from the health industry to insurance. This is a revolution that we are seeing right now. A lot of people are using varios machine learning algorithms to disrupt varios industries.

Elon Musk on the other hand is thinking about the future, when he talks about AI he is clearly talking about a technology that is 50 if not 100 years away. He is talking about “Synchronization” the concept where machines are self aware. Where the distinction of a human brain and a computer is not much different. Yes this technology can be devastating to humanity but the fact is that technology is far beyond our current state of technology. It could be centuries until we see a technology that resembles the brain of mouse.

The fact is that if you don’t code a neural network (a machine learning algorithm that mimics the brain) with a command that says KILL ALL HUMANS it probably wont. Would they develop a more efficient communication protocol, probably yes, if you tell them too.
